There’s an article on the Flip-Toronto project in the July 30, 2012 edition of the Toronto Star Newspaper. I created my flip book “Morphing City Hall” for this project. Here’s the online version, see it here.

New Flip Book: Morphing City Hall

24 Jul

I created a new flip book as part of Flip-Toronto. Eight artists chose sites around Toronto and made flip books about them. The flip books will be shown on the TTC Subway Video Screens from August 4 to 19, 2012. I chose Toronto City Hall. You can see it here.

Sorceress: Paint on Glass animation

23 Jul

For the past 6 years I’ve been making animated films using paint on glass animation, a form of stop motion animation. I create a painting underneath the animation camera, using gouache and glycerin (to keep the paint wet), take a picture with the camera and then alter the painting and repeat the process over and over again. This technique is very labour intensive but I like it because it brings together my interest in movies and painting.

My most recent film is called “Sorceress”. It’s a 9 min., Mythological Adventure Story.

Here’s the synopsis:

Two sisters head to the big city to see a concert. When the younger sister is kidnapped, the older sister embarks on a perilous journey to rescue her sibling from a wicked Sorceress.

It took me a year to animate it.

You can see clips from my films at Vimeo: http://vimeo.com/user12605489

I’ll talk about it more in future posts.
